Is Google Getting Closer to Launching its Digital Music Service?

There's little doubt that the mighty Google is planning a digital music service, but the question is when? According to a recent report by the New York Post, the companies' highly rumored music service has possibly just moved a little closer to launch. Goggle's Vice President of engineering, and Android guru, Andy Rubin, is allegedly involved in talks with New York-based company, The Harry Fox Agency -- used by the music industry for mechanical license fee collection and distribution.

This latest development, which follows on from our last blog about Google's mythical music service, is certainly a big leap in the right direction which could see the service launching by the end of the year.

Will Google's rumored music service finally be the one that seriously challenges Apple's iTunes Store?
